Blue Mosque Guided Tours

Compare guided tour options — from a focused mosque visit to full Blue Mosque combo tours with skip-the-line access.

Your Guide, Your Pace, Your Tour

Every tour below is a private experience — it's just you, your group, and a licensed English-speaking guide. No strangers, no rushed schedules, no fighting for your guide's attention in a crowd of thirty. Entry to the Blue Mosque is free; where a tour includes Hagia Sophia or the Basilica Cistern, your skip-the-line tickets are included in the price. All tours come with free cancellation up to 48 hours before your scheduled time.

So if entry is free, why does this page exist? Because "free" doesn't mean "simple." The Blue Mosque has mandatory security screening that can mean 30 to 60 minutes of queuing in peak season. It closes five times a day for prayer. It enforces a strict dress code. And once you're inside, there are no information boards, no audio guides, and no signage explaining what you're looking at — just one of the most breathtaking interiors in the Islamic world, with no context for the 21,043 hand-painted tiles above your head or the story of the teenage sultan who built it all.

This page covers everything you need to know: whether a guided tour is worth the cost, how the different tour options compare, and how to make the most of your visit — whether you choose to go independently or with a guide.

What to Expect

Your guide will meet you at a designated point in Sultanahmet Square — you'll receive the exact location and your guide's contact details after booking. Before heading to the mosque, your guide will check that everyone in your group is dressed appropriately. Women need to cover their hair, shoulders, and knees; men need to cover their shoulders and knees. If anyone needs a headscarf or wrap, your guide will help arrange one at the entrance.

You'll remove your shoes before stepping inside — plastic bags are provided, though bringing your own is easier. Once inside, your guide walks you through the interior at a pace that lets you look around, ask questions, and take photographs while they explain the history, architecture, and details that most visitors walk straight past. There's no earpiece, no flag to follow, and no schedule to keep. It's your tour.

If you've booked a combo tour, your guide walks you directly to the next site after the Blue Mosque — across the square to Hagia Sophia, or on to the Basilica Cistern — handling the entry process and skip-the-line tickets so you don't queue twice or waste time figuring out where to go.
